HTC Wildfire brown

It is well-known that Google have big plans for their Android operating system, and those plans involve getting it into as many different areas o the market as possible. The phone that is currently dominating the mid-range is the fantastic HTC Wildfire.

It is very easy to see the appeal of the HTC Wildfire, and to work out just why it is so popular, because it comes down to one simple fact:

the HTC Wildfire is a cut-down version of the world-beating HTC Desire, HTC's flagship 'superphone'. However, the manufacturer has taken an unusual and refreshing route in cutting down the Desire, to turn it into the HTC Wildfire. In short, other than a small handful of changes, the HTC Wildfire has exactly the same specifications as the Desire, but bundles those exciting features into a handset which, crucially, costs considerably less to buy.

This has led many to comment that the HTC Wildfire is not really an entry level phone, but is, in fact, a cheap 'superphone'.

To facilitate the lower price, the HTC Wildfire comes with a smaller processor than its predecessor, a chip clocked at 600MHz, but despite the drop in processor speed, it is still very fast and responsive. The HTC Wildfire also has a slightly smaller screen, at 3.2 inches, with a lower screen resolution. Although the screen resolution is lower, it is still incredibly easy to use, and this lowering of the pixel count gives the HTC Wildfire a two-fold benefit: it makes the phone less expensive to buy, but crucially, it also helps to improve the battery life. That same hidden benefit also applies to the lower speed processor in the HTC Wildfire.

Aside from those changes, which were made for reasons of budget and battery life, the HTC Wildfire retains the features that made the Desire so attractive. It comes complete with a 5 megapixel camera, allowing HTC Wildfire users to snap photos as beautiful and crisp as they would get from any of the so-called superphones on the market. And in spite of the smaller screen, viewing those photos on the device is still a fun experience, as the HTC Wildfire also supports multitouch, exactly like its more expensive predecessor.

To summarise, the HTC Wildfire is an incredible phone, but that it is to be expected, because it really is a slightly less powerful version of the Desire. Thus, this phone is not a standard entry-level phone; rather, the HTC Wildfire is a budget superphone, that offers more 'bang for your buck' than just about any other phone on the market.
